Grote Boom is ziek is een prentenboek om de jongste kinderen te betrekken bij een levensbedreigende ziekte van een geliefd persoon in hun omgeving. Op deze blog kom je meer te weten over het boekje en de praktische handleiding die erbij hoort.
Nathalie Slosse was born in 1976 in Brussels. She lives in one of the
oldest parts of town, together with her husband and two children.
After studying Classical Philology and teaching Latin and Greek for
some time, she moved on to work for several non-profit organizations
where she developed ideas and projects related to global wealth
distribution, parenting and other topics of social relevance.
Nathalie tries to live in a sustainable way, favoring bicycle
transportation and vegetarian meals, among other green habits. She
loves to use her creative talents to make her friends and family feel
special, and regularly surprises her loved ones with home-made gifts
and custom-made ceremonies.
In 2007, Nathalie was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the turbulent
and trying period that followed, she struggled to explain the events
to her two year old son. That’s when she decided to use these
circumstances as a source of inspiration for positive action. After
recovering from her illness, she wrote a booklet to explain cancer to
very young children and to give them the means to deal in their own
way with the life-threatening illness of a loved one.
